So my boss came to my baby shower 1 week ago, and the day after the shower, she called me up and told me she had to go to the doctor because she had a rash on her face (a rash from before the shower which I hadn’t noticed) and it wasn’t going away. There are a lot of reasons people can get shingles, number one being that I had had chicken pox when I was seven which meant the virus that caused that had been lying formant in my nerve cells for the last 19 years (disturbing much? ) , but a big reason for my onslaught was stress. Let me be clear that this is not going to be some vendetta against my former employer, saying that they worked me so hard that my body broke out with a case of herpes zoster (yup shingles is part of the herpes strain. I am saddened that my stress levels have brought on an actual, physical illness, and it’s forcing me to reexamine my life goals. Apparently they all secretly freaked out and told my nurse manager that they wanted me checked out in case it was contagious. I guess I am just trying to figure out if I have any recourse to help me pay for anything since my funds are kind of low because this job pays an awful salary and they basically MADE me see a doc. Like I wrote in my previous post, I would rather get quick, efficient and quality healthcare and deal with bankruptcy repercussions for 7 years than have to wait a long time for appointments and risk it being too late to get necessary care. Now I have asked my doctor for a Shingles shot but we do not know if my insurance covers it. The money I was owed from the employer I got a lot less than expected. My pay was 800 I worked 30 hrs a week – so owed 4 weeks holiday pay & wages owed – I recieved 565! This man berated me, belittled me & infront of customers. So I got Shingles. all on the left side of my forehead and around my left eye. All on the left side of my forehead and around my left eye. Worse is that I have it so close to my eye that my eye hurts even worse and is at risk if I don’t get it under control. It sucks that it is on my face, but I can’t even fathom the pain if it was under clothing. At least I get a week off work to recuperate (although my boss is giving me a shit ton of at home work). If you have had chickenpox, then you are not at risk.
